 I certainly think more about by mental health. I work from home on an ongoing basis and prior to this, as soon as I woke up, I would pick up my phone and be checking emails and social media to see if I had missed anything. So within minutes of opening my eyes I was on a phone etc, not giving myself time to mentally prepare myself for the day. I would also grab a quick sandwich and sit back down at my laptop to eat it, feeling I didn’t have time for a lunch break.

Now, after participating in the Mindfit Bodyfit course, I don’t reach for my phone the second I open my eyes, I get up and jump in the shower, allowing myself time to wake up fully and collect my thoughts.

Once dressed I make a cuppa and then and only then do I give myself time to check my social media. I get on with the morning and come lunchtime, I now eat my sandwich and then go for a quick half hour walk to give myself some fresh air and a technology break. Coming back refreshed and ready to tackle the afternoon.

 There are certainly other areas that I will be looking at but just these few small changes have made a massive difference to my day. I’ve certainly switched my work/ life balance mindset.

We invited Karen to one of our Heathrow Wellbeing team days. Karen brought positivity and brilliant instruction to the group with her Healthy Mind, Healthy Body package. The team were able to work at their own pace and ask questions along the way. We had several employees follow up with Karen and go on to improve their once long term back and neck problems that had developed over the years working in an office environment.

I have been going to Karen’s classes for the past 15 years. A combination of yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi and laughter, going to this on a Friday is a perfect prelude to the weekend.
